Home Owner Insurance Coverage

There are few documents that are more important to home owners than their home owners insurance coverage. But too many policy holders have no idea what coverage they are receiving from their L.A. Insurance or other insurance company.

This can prove to be a costly mistake should a fire, flood or burglary hit your home. It’s important, then, to understand what your homeowners insurance policy includes before you need to use it.

In general, though, Insurance policies across the country will cover damage done to your home. The definition of “home” here includes any extensions or attachments to your house, such as garages or rental units.

Home owners insurance coverage policies typically cover damage to your lawn and landscaping, too.

It will cover damages to the buildings or structures on your property that are not attached to your home. This usually includes such items as tool sheds, garages that are not attached, pool houses and gazebos.

Most homeowners insurance coverage policies, cover all living expenses taken on by you and your family after your home is damaged so severely that you can’t reside there until repairs are made. You might not know, though, that if you rent part of your home, your rental payments are covered under a homeowners insurance policy if that part of your home has also suffered enough damage to be unlivable.

Your homeowners policy should also cover all possessions belonging to you and your family if they are damaged. This coverage extends to the personal contents of your home and any buildings or structures on your property. Most L.A. Insurance policies, as well as other policies, cover the possessions belonging to the guests who were staying in your home when disaster struck.

It’s little surprise that so many homeowners don’t understand what is and isn’t covered by their homeowners insurance coverage policies. Like all legal documents, a standard homeowners insurance coverage policy contains sometimes confusing language.

It’s important, then, for homeowners to speak up when they have questions. It’s also important for them not to sign anything until they’re 100 percent certain what their policy does and does not cover.

If you do have questions about your L.A. Insurance policy, or about any other homeowners insurance policy you may have, be sure to ask your insurance agent for answers. It’s your agent’s job to make sure that you understand everything written in your policy.

Remember, your homeowners insurance can offer your financial protection when disaster strikes. You want to make sure that you know exactly what’s in that insurance coverage policy.
